The 50th annual DeWitt County Pecan Show will be Tuesday at Cuero's Friar Ag Center.

Judging begins at 1 p.m.

Residents and commercial producers are encouraged to enter as many pecan varieties as possible, according to a Texas AgriLife Extension news release. Divisions include native, commercial and classic varieties.

Champions from each division receive $25 cash prizes. Participants must submit entries to the DeWitt County Extension office, 307 N. Gonzales St., by 5 p.m. Monday or to the Friar Ag Center inside the Cuero City Park by 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Those interested in participating in the Pecan Food Show can pick up entry forms from the DeWitt County extension office.

Food entry check-in lasts from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Monday. Entries will be available for public viewing and will go on sale between 4 and 6 p.m. Monday and again between 8 a.m. and noon Tuesday.

The competition's youth category is open to those age 19 and younger as of Nov. 11, while the adult category is open to those age 20 and older as of the same date. Winners from each division receive $25.

A poster contest with an emphasis on pecans is also open to DeWitt County children ages 6 through 12. Cash prizes go to first, second and third place winners and participants can drop off posters at the DeWitt County extension office on Monday or the Friar Ag Center by 10 a.m. Tuesday.

This year's event will not include an awards banquet and program.
