Within Temptation raised a few eyebrows last year with their symphonic metal takes on a number of popular alt-rock, dance and pop songs. Now, after having some fun performing the numbers for European station Q-Music, the band has decided to compile their covers into a new album titled 'The Q-Music Sessions.'

The band initially came up with the idea as a way to build up the anticipation for their 15th anniversary show at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp last fall, but then saw the response explode beyond their wildest expectations. The disc finds the band reworking tracks from Bruno Mars, Gnarls Barkley, Lana Del Rey, Swedish House Mafia, the Who, Imagine Dragons and several others.

Vocalist Sharon Den Adel says, "Our approach was to really make the cover a new Within Temptation song. So not going the easy way by using only a piano or acoustic guitar, for example, but really trying to put all the elements of a Within Temptation track in this new version. It was quite a challenge because we had only one week to get it right, while recording an original Within Temptation song can sometimes take up half a year!"

Den Adel concludes, "We are glad we've taken up this challenge and are very proud of the result." At present, a U.S. release has not been announced, but fans can get 'The Q-Music Sessions' in the Netherlands and Belgium on April 19.
