Soundgarden may be back as a fully functioning, modern act releasing new tunes, but the legendary group opted for a bit of nostalgia Thursday night (March 13) in Austin, Texas. As promised, the band delivered their 1994 classic 'Superunknown' in full to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The set came as part of the iTunes Festival, which made its U.S. debut as part of the ongoing South by Southwest festivities this week in Austin.

As for the performance, Chris Cornell opened by explaining to the audience, "I want to apologize ahead of time because there are so many different tunings on this album and when we sequenced it, we didn't really care about that … so we're going to switch guitars a lot on pretty much every single song." But even with the breaks for equipment changes, the audience was enthused throughout as the band rocked from 'Let Me Drown' through 'Like Suicide,' while hitting on the singles 'Fell on Black Days,' 'Black Hole Sun,' 'Spoonman' and 'The Day I Tried to Live' in between.

Those who missed the live stream can still catch the show online via iTunes at this location. There's also fan-filmed footage of the performance and a collection of the clips can be seen above.

Even though 'Superunknown' surpassed its 20th Anniversary this past weekend, there's still a massive deluxe edition reissue coming on June 3. The set is bolstered with B-sides, rarities, demos and rehearsal footage from that era. More details on what's part of the collection can be found here.
