Recently, my wife and I did some grocery shopping like any normal couple would. We usually shop at a certain grocery chain but since a brand new store opened up closer to our house we decided to shop there instead because, well....it's closer.

To make a long story short, we started to notice that some of the products we bought started going bad rather quickly....or, in some cases, were spoiled when we opened them. Then we noticed a pattern. The expiration dates had well passed on something we bought not even a week before.

Now I know it is up to us to check the expiration date on products before we bought them...we know that.

However, I decided to go back to said store and see if it was just a fluke or were they, in fact, leaving expired products on store shelves with the hope that you the consumer would buy them not checking. What I found was pretty gross to be honest. The date I went in the store was March 15th.....and I only spent 20 minutes in the store and got these pictures.

Just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. It really is buyer beware out there. I know the shopper has some responsibility to check the products they buy but at the same time, the store also has to take some responsibility for what it decides to sell it's customers.

Also, there is a difference between "Best By", "Use By", and "Sell By" dates so keep that in mind. However, in this particular instance, the egg substitute in the picture was on the shelf past it's "Use By" date...which, happens to be illegal.

Also, I'm not going to say which store it was but I will say it needs to be held more accountable considering it's the largest retailer in the world.

Be careful!
