According to a recent poll from Experian, Our own city of Victoria finally gained a national ranking.  No, not in extremely crappy driving, but in the purchasing....of sweatpants.

You've all seen them.  The creatures that lurk around Wal Mart at 2am dressed in their traditional uniform.  Sweat stained tank tops, flip flops and those oh so stylish sweatpants still sporting that nacho cheese stain from last weekend's late night Taco Bell run.

It's no surprise that sweatpants, that were all the rage in the 80's, are now considered a right of passage for every trailer park mom in curlers, cigarette hanging out of their mouths and 6 kids running around but I had no idea they were still purchased on this level and apparently all over the country.

To each their own I guess.  I have worn sweatpants before (albeit in 1996) and I can attest to their comfort ability  but I had no idea they were still so popular.  One thing is clear, when you rank just behind Los Angeles in anything, it's a big deal.  Stay classy Victoria!

While the runways boast couture and fashions that you rarely see walking down the street, some of the top cities in the U.S. are keeping comfortable in their sweats.

For the second year in a row, the nation’s top per capita consumer of sweats is Philadelphia, PA while New York was seventh, Los Angeles ranked eighth, and Chicago was twentieth.

The top 10 cities for sweats consumption:

  1.  Philadelphia, PA
  2. Hartford, CT
  3. Pittsburgh, PA
  4. Lafayette, LA
  5. Laredo, TX
  6. Boston, MA
  7. New York, NY
  8. Los Angeles, CA
  9. Victoria, TX
  10. Scranton, PA
