Ruth Wedergren, public awareness coordinator of the Talking Book Program, will be at the Victoria Public Library from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Monday to demonstrate this free library service.

The Victoria Public Library, 302 N. Main St., recently became a demonstration site for the program.

The Talking Book Program is a free library service that helps people with visual and physical impairments continue to enjoy reading.

The program provides eligible patrons with large print, Braille and digital audio books and magazines. Like a public library, Talking Book Program has thousands of titles in a wide variety of genres. A digital audio player is provided at no charge, and all materials are sent and returned through the mail free of charge.

Patrons may also download books and magazines from the Internet-based Braille Audio and Reading Download service to play on the digital player provided.
