It was the start of the second half of the Texas Collegiate League season, and it started off on the wrong foot as the Generals lost to the Acadiana Cane Cutters 8-5.

A comeback effort with the Cutters ahead 8-3 fell short. The team picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, and with 2 outs and the bases loaded, Romeo Cortina hit a fly ball deep into left field that looked like it was gone, but Cutters left fielder Jordie Hein made the catch on the warning track to end the ballgame.

With the loss, the Generals fall to 17-14 on the season and 0-1 in the second-half.  The Cane Cutters improve to 15-16 overall and 1-0 in the second-half.

The Generals and Cane Cutters will play game two of the series tonight 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium. Tonight is also Fastop Ozarka Free Ticket Night.  All fans that stop by any Fastop or Cimarron location in Victoria and purchase an Ozarka product will receive a free ticket to the game. Go Generals!
