It was a good night for East Texas Pump Jacks starting pitcher Robert Parucha at Riverside Stadium last night, who pitched a complete game as the Generals fell 3-1.

Parucha not only went the whole game, but he also only gave up 1 run on 3 hits, and struck out 10 Generals, on his way to his 3rd win of the season.

The Pump Jacks and Generals traded runs in the second inning.  After Garrett McMullen led off with a walk and stole second base, he stole third as well and came into score as the throw from Generals catcher Aaron Morgan got past Kyle Thornell at third base and into left field.  The Generals tied it up on a Thornell sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame to score Jace Reese who had singled to lead off the inning.

The Pump Jacks made it 3-1 in the fourth inning as Joey Armstrong and McMullen came into score on an RBI ground out and a throwing error by Reese at first base.

Generals starting pitcher Daniel Tunchez, Jr. pitched well, allowing just one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Juan Cortina did not allow a hit in three innings for the Generals and recorded three strikeouts.  Generals newcomer Armando Arevalo pitched a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout in his first appearance in a Generals uniform this summer.

The Generals threatened in the ninth as Romeo Cortina was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, but Parucha retired the next three batters in a row to end the game.

With the loss the Generals fall to 21-18 on the season and 4-5 in the second-half.  The Pump Jacks improve to 19-20 overall and 4-5 in the second-half.

The two teams will meet again tonight for game two of the series at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium.  It will be another Wing Stop Winning Wednesday.  Baseball bingo cards will be sold for $1 each with lots of great prizes for the winners.  Wednesday night is also Junior League Night at the Generals game.

Go Generals!
