The Victoria Generals continued their winning ways last night with a 6-4 victory over the Texas Marshals at Riverside Stadium.

The win marked a two-game series sweep, the second straight series the Generals have won.

Tyler Schnuriger picked up his first win of the season, tossing five innings and allowing just one unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts.

The Generals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI groundout by J.D. Stinnett to score Brandon Hannon.

The Generals extended the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the second inning.  Jacob Hubert came into score on an Aaron Morgan sacrifice fly.  Drew Featherston came in on a J.B. Moss RBI single.  Romeo Cortina then smacked a two-run double down the left field line to score Hannon and Moss.

The Marshals scored an unearned run in the top of the third inning.  After a throwing error by Schnuriger allowed Ryan Lombardi to reach third base, Cody Semler lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to cut the Generals lead to 5-1.

Aaron Morgan smoked an RBI double to left field line to score Jace Reese in the bottom of the third to make it 6-1.

Former General Michael McGraw, who played for the Generals back in 2011, socked his second home run in as many nights off of Generals relief pitcher Trey Wall, a two run shot to left, to make it a 6-3 ballgame in the sixth.

The Marshals made the game a little closer in the seventh inning as Krey Bratsen hit a sacrifice fly to right field off of Juan Cortina to score Jared Pruett and make it 6-4.

Argenis Angulo pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit or a run to pick up his first save of the season and secure the Generals 6-4 victory.

Hubert led the Generals at the plate going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a hit by pitch.  Hannon and Moss each added two hits in the game

With the win, the Generals get back above .500 with an overall record of 27-26.  They are now 10-13 in the second-half.  The Marshals fall to 17-37 overall and 8-16 in the second-half.

The Generals will travel to Bryan today to take on the first-place Brazos Valley Bombers in a two-game series. The matchup will feature the top two teams from the first-half of the TCL season.  Both the Bombers and the Generals will host home playoff games on Saturday, August 10.
