The Who’s Stage Setup – Pic of the Week

The Who
Twitter / The Who

Rehearsals for the Who‘s upcoming tour are taking place in some undisclosed location, but a new photograph is giving us an indication of what the stage setup will look like. The band sent its fans a picture this morning of the group on stage via Twitter.

“Smuggled out of the rehearsal room……..” was the text that accompanied the tweet. As has been the case with the Who’s tours since 1989, surviving members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are being augmented by a large band. Even though the picture is a blurry, you can make out three keyboardists along the back row. Townshend’s brother Simon, who has performed with the Who since 1996, is on second guitar.

The Who are also taking a page from the Pink Floyd handbook, with a giant round projection screen behind drummer Zak Starkey (which would dwarf even Keith Moon‘s old gong). Two smaller screens are on either side of the large screen.

The ‘Quadrophenia + More‘ tour will begin Nov. 1 in Sunrise, Fla. and continue through Feb. 26 in Providence, R.I. As they did in 1996 and 1997, the group will perform its 1973 rock opera ‘Quadrophenia’ in its entirety and many other classics from their back catalog.
