The Simpsons‘ has been having itself a banner week, boasting the talk of the town with Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming “Treehouse of Horror” couch gag, but the good news doesn’t stop there. Joining ‘Sleepy Hollow‘s early renewal for 2014, ‘The Simpsons’ has officially been guaranteed a return for season 26, while ‘The Daily Show‘ vet John Oliver has been chosen to lend his voice to an upcoming episode.

“For more than a quarter of a century, The Simpsons has captured the hearts and minds of fans in a way that transcends ages, languages and cultures,” said FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly of the news. “This groundbreaking series is not only the longest-running scripted show in television history, it’s one of the greatest sitcoms of our time, and I’m looking forward to yet another landmark season.”

Meanwhile, TVLine has confirmed that John Oliver will portray a previously unseen neighbor of the Simpson family who Marge has never met, ominously named Wilkes John Booth. A shot in the dark perhaps, but the outlet speculates that Oliver’s name could allude to the revelation that a character would be killed off in the coming season.

Elsewhere, ‘The Simpsons’ season 25 will feature appearances from returning ‘Parks and Recreation‘ star Amy Poehler, ‘Harry Potter’ vet Daniel Radcliffe, ‘Arrested Development‘ star Will Arnett, ‘Mad Men‘ star Elisabeth Moss, comic legend Stan Lee, and ‘The Newsroom‘ creator and acclaimed writer Aaron Sorkin.

Take another look at Guillermo del Toro’s credit sequence before this Sunday’s Halloween special, and tell us how many more seasons you’d like to see ‘The Simpsons’ last!
