High school football is back, and the excitement is contagious. There's nothing like catching the action in person, and if you want tickets for this weeks games when San Antonio Brackinridge comes to town tomorrow night to face the Victoria East Titans at Memorial Stadium, and the Warriors of Victoria West tangle with South San Antonio, they are officially on sale

Good news Victoria! Despite the fact that our fair city has it's share of crazy and/or less than intelligent drivers, it's not one of the places where you're most likely to have an accident. Naturally, higher risks prevail in larger cities, but sometimes it seems like we have some of the dumbest people behind the wheel right here in Victoria. What do ifficial figures reveal? Check it out below.
Maybe not, but at least one Texas town did get an honorable mention. Okay, I can see by the criteria we may not have all the things that make what was among the best, but we do have a lot going for us, like low unemployment, growing industry, and other factors. Maybe it was the lack of wide bike lanes that did us in. Yeah, that's it. Check out the full story below.
It's been pretty wet in the Crossroads so far this year with official tallies showing as much as 9 inches in some areas on Wednesday. Honestly, I have no idea about the drought, it just seems like every year when we get some rain, the first thing you hear is "the drought's not over." Again, I'm no expert, but I'd say we are not in a drought at the moment.
Other rainfall reports said there was 9 inched in Jackson and DeWitt Counties, and Inez registering 7 inches. At Calhoun County Airport, officials listed right around 3 1/2 inches of rainfall. No significant problems were reported from the rainfall, but minor river flooding is expected.
It sounds like some kind of cheesy science fiction movie parody doesn't it? But in reality, it's one of the coolest ways an astronaut can have a little fun at mealtime. This clip is from the recent Hubble Space Telescope movie. Sure, it may be a little taste from home, but it sure ain't Ventura's Tamales!
It's really great when an event like monster truck racing comes to our little neck of the woods. How often do you get to see this kind of action without having to drive to Houston or San Antonio? Here's a little more video from the event that was at the Victoria Community Center back in January. Nicely done!
Monster trucks are pretty cool to watch, especially when they smash cars. How many times have you wished you were driving one when you came upon a traffic jam, or another driver that needed to be taught a lesson? Check out this video from the monster truck event earlier this year at the Victoria Community Center.
If you drive regularly around the Victoria area, you know we do have our share of traffic problems. From idiots who try to make turns out of the wrong lane, and inconsiderate drivers that seem to think they’re the only one on the road, to road construction, and more traffic than the road can handle, especially around Victoria Mall. If you’ve ever driven in a large city, you also know our problems are nothing compared to other cities. According to a new study, drivers in the 10 worst cities for traffic spend anywhere from 30 to 58 hours a year trapped in their cars going exactly nowhere.
Victoria certainly has a lot of history, and the pride shows everywhere you go. Just drive around on the historic homes tour, or take a look at some of the downtown businesses. According to the website Livability.com, the city ranks 10th for U.S. cities in historic preservation. The site calls itself "a comprehensive online resource on more than 500 of America's Best Places to live, visit, work, play and explore." Programs like the city's Main Street Program, along with museums and it's 113 registered historic properties were cited as factors for the ranking. See the complete top 10 below.
