Get Your Face Hugged With Fox’s ‘Alien: Covenant’ VR Experience
Because terrifying us with xenomorphs onscreen just isn’t enough, Fox is now planning to create an Alien: Covenant virtual reality experience that’ll tie in with the movie and, I guess, scare users out of their minds. The project was announced at this week’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and is probably a much more exciting prospect than, say, a talking refrigerator.

Had enough of those never-ending stills yet? Good news — the Alien: Covenant trailer is here, and it’s equal parts stunning and downright horrifying. Watch as a sinister particle drifts into an android’s ear, cringe as a man leans over a slowly hatching alien egg, marvel at the sweeping, beautiful landscapes of a planet we all know is full of creatures that want to kill us! Oh, and I am never, ever taking a shower again.

At this point, every new image from Alien: Covenant is just another tick on the most passively annoying countdown clock — annoying because we have no idea how much time is left before the first official trailer finally arrives, but it has to be very soon by now. With the holiday weekend imminent, our money’s on sometime between tomorrow and Sunday, and it’s kind of fun to imagine watching a trailer for a new Alien movie first thing on Christmas morning as your family looks on in horror — especially if the trailer is anything like this new image.

Ridley Scott is currently filming Alien: Covenant in Australia, and while we have yet to see the first official image from the upcoming Prometheus sequel, Michael Fassbender has been offering up a few ideas of what we can expect — mostly in terms of production design, which he’s compared to Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner. But some new set photos have popped up online to give us our first real look at Covenant, and they are somewhat unnerving.

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus was a bit divisive, to say the least, so when the director announced plans for a new trilogy of Alien prequels, it left fans with some big questions. We’ve gotten answers to a few of them (no, Noomi Rapace isn’t returning; yes, we will see the origins of the Xenomorph), and though he’s not allowed to reveal much about Alien: Covenant, Michael Fassbender is happy to shed a little more light on the upcoming prequel.

Although Alien: Covenant is a horror film, its planned October 2017 release seemed a little too on-the-nose, especially for a blockbuster sci-fi project. With an increasingly excellent cast, we’re fairly excited for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien prequel, which makes today’s news of an earlier release date pretty wonderful.

Although Ridley Scott recently said that Noomi Rapace would reprise her role — albeit briefly — as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Alien: Covenant, the director has now determined that the actress will actually not be returning for the upcoming Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel. Many assumed we might see how her ill-advised adventure with Michael Fassbender’s David panned out, though it’s fair to assume that things didn’t go so well.

An R-rated Alien film is hardly surprising, given that each film in the franchise — Prometheus included — has carried that restricted rating. But if you were somehow concerned that Ridley Scott might be getting a bit soft, fear not, as the director assures fans that he’s not only aiming for an R-rating with Alien: Covenant, but he’s going for a “pretty hard R.”

Man, what does AMC have against the modern day? Following earlier announcements of a 'Walking Dead' companion series, 'Breaking Bad' prequel, period dramas 'Turn' & 'Halt & Catch Fire,' the cable network has officially announced its next batch of pilots; period drama 'Knifeman,' and a Ridley Scott post-apocalyptic drama titled 'Galyntine,' which should feel rather familiar to fans of NBC's
‘Prometheus 2′ Finally Has a Screenwriter
Sometimes when a film is released, the people involved will talk up a sequel regardless if one will actually happen. Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' set up a sequel, and both Scott and star Noomi Rapace suggested that 'Prometheus 2' would happen, but little came of it. Until today, as a writer has just been hired to pen the sequel.
