The video, which was posted on YouTube and later Gawker.com Thursday, was taken Wednesday night by Ryan Wenzel, 26. He was headed home from "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" - ironically, a ballet performance that featured a stripper - when a crowd of people walked on the train and began the impromptu show.

The big news in public transportation this week was 26-year old Ryan Wenzel (not pictured), who captured a video of what appeared to be an impromptu pole dance on New York City's L Train.

While the show may have seemed spontaneous, it turns out it was actually part of a shoot for an upcoming Girl Talk video.

However, these days, with pole dancing being embraced as both a form of exercise and something you can do in a Hip-Hop star's rec room or tour bus, many more amateurs are taking to the pole.
