There’s just something about NFL football that makes us want to slap on some war paint, throw back some beers and make drunken messes of ourselves. Some fans are clearly more into this than others and it’s those hardcore sports nuts that we all get our inspiration from.
What better way to start off the new year than with a ton of firings? Raheem Morris and reportedly all the assistant coaches and coordinators of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were asking themselves this question when they lost their jobs Monday.
The Giants beat the Cowboys to win the NFC East, while the Bengals and Broncos lost, but received help from other teams to slip into the last remaining AFC playoff spots. The playoffs are scheduled to begin next Saturday, when Cincinnati travels to Houston and New Orleans hosts Detroit. On Sunday, Atlanta travels to New York, while Denver hosts Pittsburgh. There were certainly a lot of big moments in football in 2011, but only one man can claim ownership of the best of the year.
Tim Tebow.
I admit that I'm a Tebow, "The Footballer", fan. Not a Tebow, as Christian Crusader, fan. However, it doesn't bother me at all that he wants to use his celebrity to promote his religious beliefs. Who gives a poot? I just like him because he set the NFL back 60 years or so. He plays leather helmet football.
On the flip side of that, it also doesn't bother me at all when someone makes a joke about his religious motives. It doesn't bother me when someone makes a joke about Jesus though either. But again, I'm just missing that "I am offended by that" gene.
So now there's the Tebow Nation getting all fired up over a tweet that Bill Maher, comedian and long-time host of "Real Time" on HBO, shot off into cyberspace. They're offended, I guess. Again, I don't get it. But whatever.

The Miami Dolphins also fired their head coach, announcing that Tony Sparano (not to be confused with Tony Soprano) is being replaced by defensive backs coach Todd Bowles for the team’s remaining three games this season. The Dolphins sit at 4-9 after starting the season 0-7. In total, Sparano was 29-32 with Miami in his four years there.
Seattle 30 – St. Louis 13
Rookie Doug Baldwin blocked a punt and caught a touchdown pass, and the Seattle Seahawks beat the St. Louis Rams 30-13 on “Monday Night Football.” Seattle (6-7) remains alive in the race for an NFC wild-card playoff spot as a result of the victory.

Kyle Orton has been waived by the Denver Broncos. For a guy that's been around for awhile, he knows what it's like in the NFL, here today and if you don't produce, you're gone tomorrow. In this case, by rookie Tim Tebow, who the Broncos hope isn't just the flavor of the month. I like Tebow, he's pretty exciting to watch.
