New Chickenfoot Album Scheduled for September 27 [VIDEO]

Confirming bassist Michael Anthony’s earlier report that work on the album was finished, Chickenfoot’s second studio set has been scheduled for a September 27 release.

The veteran supergroup — made up of Anthony, vocalist Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, and drummer Chad Smith — worked with producer Mike Fraser for the sessions, which produced songs such as ‘Last Temptation,’ ‘Something’s Gone Wrong,’ ‘Astral Years,’ and the lead single, ‘Bigfoot.’

Puddle of Mudd Covers Led Zeppelin, Elton John, and More on New Album [VIDEO]

When they entered the studio to work on songs for a follow-up to 2009′s ‘Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate,’ Puddle of Mudd had a hard time finding the inspiration for new material — so they decided just to have fun playing some of their favorite tunes by other artists.

“We were really burned out, and when we started trying to write again it just wasn’t time yet,” said guitarist Paul Phillip in a recent Billboard interview. “We had been doing (AC/DC’s) ‘TNT’ and (the Steve Miller Band’s) ‘The Joker’ and had so much fun with those that one thing led to another, and we decided to make a covers record. It was just something fun to do, and we had a blast.”

Soundgarden Promises ‘Very Heavy’ New Album

They don’t have a release date, a title, or even a record company waiting to get it onto the shelves, but Soundgarden is in the studio working on its first new album in 15 years – and during a pair of recent interviews, frontman Chris Cornell and guitarist Kim Thayil hinted at what fans can expect to hear.

“We’re kind of doing it in stages,” says Thayil, adding, “We have about 14 songs in various stages of completion. Previously, we’d just block out a bunch of time and go and track everything at once, but we can’t really do that right now.”

Let’s Hope a New Van Halen Album Doesn’t Suck

While no "official" announcement has been made, word is that Van Halen is back in the studio working on a new album. Better yet, it's with David Lee Roth! This is a band I grew up with, and I have always preferred Roth's sound and style to Sammy Hagar. Coming in from the beginning, the band was groundbreaking. Eddie's playing set a new standard for Rock guitar, and his technique has been copied by others,  again and again.
