In the wake of the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, the local community has sprung into action, raising funds for those impacted by the devastation. Now, several bands with ties to the bay state are stepping up to participate in the ‘Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration’ benefit show on May 30 at the TD Garden, with net ticket proceeds donated to The One Fund Boston.

First Sully Erna Photos From 'Army of the Damned' Surface

Filming is about to get underway on the upcoming movie 'Army of the Damned' with Godsmack's Sully Erna playing one of the lead roles. In the film, he's a police sheriff named Bridge who uncovers more than he bargained for when answering a domestic disturbance call. Erna, making his feature film debut, has been taking part in rehearsals and some of the first photos from the film with the singer in his role have surfaced online. They can be seen below.

The lineup for the 2013 Heavy MTL festival has been revealed, with Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Megadeth and Godsmack leading the way. This year's event is scheduled for August 10 and 11 at Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau and will feature two solid days of metal and hard rock acts.

Booked for June 27-30 over the Canada Day weekend, the festival will take place in Gibbons, Alberta, with Godsmack, Limp Bizkit and Sebastian Bach leading the way.

Godsmack's Sully Erna is proud of his deeply personal solo record 'Avalon,' so much so that he's planned special trips for a handful of fans that purchased the box set edition of his disc. Godsmack recently released their 9th album called Live & Inspired. The album is a 2-disc set, the first of which is all live material, recorded at Detroit's Fox Theater . The 2nd disc constitutes the 'inspired' portion of the album, 4 covers of classic rock tunes. The band has done a great job on them in my opinion. You'll find covers of The Beatles' Come Together, Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, Pink Floyd's Time, and Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way, which can be heard right here on KLUB Rock 106.9.
