Despite a few new releases, this weekend was all about last week's champion. 'Gravity' held on to the number one spot with all of its might, showing that Alfonso Cuaron's space thriller may have some of the strongest legs of any major 2013 release.

It's an action-packed weekend at theaters, with two new thrillers arriving—one based on true events, the other a sequel to a movie that not too many saw, but, well, there's a sequel anyway. But hey, if you're talking about Sofia Vergara with machine gun jumblies, who cares if it's a sequel?

Tom Hanks is sure to earn himself an Oscar nomination for his performance in director Paul Greengrass' 'Captain Phillips,' and the new trailer previews his riveting portrayal in this true-to-life tale of a captain facing Somali pirates.
