As if the 2013 Heavy MTL festival wasn't already rocking enough, organizers have just added some significant rockers to this year's bill. Among the top new acts joining the music weekend include Black Label Society, Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals and Hellyeah! among others.

Black Label Society first discussed the idea of unplugging their instruments for a special performance last year, and Wednesday night (March 6) in Los Angeles the special semi-acoustic taping finally came to fruition. Zakk Wylde and crew let the cameras and audio equipment roll during the performance at Los Angeles' Club Nokia for what will eventually be a new CD/DVD release called 'Unblackened.'

Former Breaking Benjamin Drummer Chad Szeliga Joins Black Label Society for Fall Tour

The drummer slot in Black Label Society has seen a lot of turnover in recent years. Former drummer Will Hunt left in early 2011 to resume his role in Evanescence.

This fall, the band is touring with Judas Priest. The man in charge of, as Black Label frontman Zakk Wylde puts it, “holding down the foundation of the black cathedral” will be former Breaking Benjamin drummer Chad Szeliga.

Heavy Metal icons Judas Priest is out on the road on their farewell tour, and you can see them for free! The dates for the U.S. leg of the tour have recently been announced, and we have the opportunity to see them right in our back yard at Concrete Street Amphitheater in Corpus Christi. The opening bands are no slouches either, Black Label Society and Thin Lizzy. That's a hell of a concert and best of all, it's on a Friday night!

I got a request recently for a song by Whitesnake, or maybe it was Blackfoot. The caller asked for Whitefoot, to which I said "don't you mean Blacksnake?" They said "oh yeah, that's it." Which got me to thinking which, according to my wife is always dangerous, about band name confusion. I took the thought a step further, and thought about some potential band mergers, and here's what my warped mind came up with. I apologize in advance for these.
