Adam Yauch Park Officially Dedicated in Honor of Beastie Boys Musician in Brooklyn Heights

This weekend will be rife with memories of late Beastie Boys musician Adam Yauch and the celebration of his life began Friday (May 3) in Brooklyn Heights, New York where the park where he played as a kid was officially named Adam Yauch Park in his honor. Today (May 4) officially marks the one-year anniversary of his death and there has been a movement over the last year to rename the Palmetto Playground in honor of the man also known as MCA.

According to TMZ, Beastie Boys rapper MCA has died at the age of 47. Back in 2009, MCA, whose real name was Adam Yauch, revealed he was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node. Beastie Boys' Action Figure Sales to Benefit Charities

Move over, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Nelly: the Beastie Boys have also been immortalized as commercially available action figures. And, in a rather superhero-like gesture, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Adam “MCA” Yauch are donating the proceeds from sales of their limited-edition figures to charity.
