Philip H. Anselmo, master of both metal and horror, has revealed further details about his 2013 Housecore Horror Film Festival. Along with Anselmo's own band Down, his solo act Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals and aggro-doom veterans Crowbar, the festival has now confirmed Eyehategod and Warbeast for the three-day event in Austin, with additional spooky surprises planned to await brave attendees.

Friday (March 15) was a big day for Green Day at South by Southwest, as the band had two films screening and they made a welcome return to the concert stage at the Moody Theater. While 'Cuatro,' the documentary about the creation of their album trilogy, has appeared at other festivals, South by Southwest was the premiere of 'Broadway Idiot,' their film about the creation of their 'American Idiot' stage production.

When the Texas State Highway Department announced that they were raising the speed limit on certain highways to 85 mph, I thought that was very cool, especially since even though I do tend to drive above 70 on the highway, (shhh...don't tell anyone!) but 85 is faster that I usually want to drive. Country Music legend Willie Nelson was honored in Austin, Texas on Friday with the unveiling of a statue of his likeness. The statue is located in front of the legendary Moody theater, which is the location of the Austin City Limits studio in downtown Austin. The singer songwriter performed a song called "Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die", certainly an appropriate choice for the longtime marijuana legalization advocate, who has had his share of brushes with the law on the subject.

In 1999, a man found a disposable camera on the ground at a David Lee Roth concert in Austin, Texas. He forgot about the camera until a couple years later when he spotted it in a pile of his stuff.

He developed the pictures on a whim and discovered, much to his delight, the camera's previous owner had taken a bunch of shots of himself and his friends pre-gaming for the David Lee Roth concert.

Last Saturday night in Austin, Mellencamp made one of his two Texas appearances for his current “No Better Than This” tour. When you couple Mellencamp’s great stage presence with the new Moody Theatre on Willie Nelson Boulevard (2nd Street) in downtown Austin, you knew it was going to be a great show. Although, there was apprehension on our part on how Mellencamp was going to integrate his new project cd/album into his show, in the end it was a flawless presentation.

A live-action re-imagination of Nintendo 8-bit hero Super Mario as an angsty, mushroom-eating, down-on-his-luck plumber was a big hit this week at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas.

"Mario" is a trailer-length short which filmmaker Joe Nicolosi doesn't intend to turn into a feature film. You can check out all two minutes of the project below.
