You Tube Honor our Nations Heroes During Warrior’s Weekend [VIDEO]
About 500 soldiers are expected to get together in the Crossroads this weekend, for the annual Warrior's Weekend. The event is a chance to honor the men and women who serve our great nation in the military. Veterans from Kentucky, Colorado, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas, plus from Walter Reed Hospital and Brooke Army Medical Center are expected to take part in the festivities. The soldiers will fly into Houston, and receive a police escort to Victoria. Along the way, the buses will stop in Hillje, and pass through Edna and Ganado.

The Lotus Esprit used in The Spy Who Loved Me was totally awesome, and it conjured up dreams of being able to drive your car from land straight into water. Everything increases, right? Prices rise, and hopefully wages also go up to keep pace. I can remember when the minimum wage was $4 an hour, and we would get all excited because it was going to rise to $4.25. Of course at the time, I think we were paying 49 cents for a gallon of gas. Living in Victoria, Texas with teenagers about to enter the workforce, it’s nice to see that our state is at least at the federal level of $7.25 an hour. How does that compare with the rest of the United States? Check out the highest and the lowest, according to ABC News.

What is wrong with Texas? I know we lead the nation in things like the highest number of minimum-wage jobs, and it's tied with 2 other states in the percentage of population without health insurance. On the plus side, the state does lead the way in the number of jobs created in recent years, but we're lacking in the number of people in state prisons. What gives? This should be an easy one to beat. Across this great land of ours, Louisiana wins this dubious honor. C'mon Texas, we can do better!
