Russell Brand famously hooked up with Katy Perry during his 2009 stint hosting the MTV Video Music Awards. That relationship resulted in a short-lived marriage, but single ladies, take note: Brand has just been tapped to host this year’s MTV Movie Awards, so maybe you’ll have your shot, too.

It’ll be Brand’s third time emceeing an MTV awards show, and the 36-year-old British actor and comedian never fails to make a splash. During his 2008 VMAs gig, which took place several months before the U.S. presidential election, he implored the audience to vote for Barack Obama, calling then-President George W. Bush “a retarded cowboy fella” who “wouldn’t be trusted with scissors” in England.

Those remarks were rewarded with death threats by some offended viewers, but since MTV has never been one to shy away from controversy, it’s no surprise that the network has continued its relationship with Brand.

“This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than ‘The Avengers,’ and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” he said on Thursday. “MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards. If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.”

Other presenters at the upcoming telecast include Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg, and the top award contenders this year are ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Bridesmaids.’ They both have eight nominations including nods for best cast, breakthrough performance and movie of the year.

And unlike those stuffy old Oscars, you’ll also see awards handed out in other categories like best kiss, best fight, and best on-screen dirtbag — all voted on by viewers.

The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards will be presented live on MTV on June 3.
