'Crossfire Hurricane,' the new documentary on the Rolling Stones, will be headed to DVD and Blu-Ray release early next year. Directed by Brett Morgen, the highly acclaimed documentary premiered last month in select theaters as well as multiple airings on HBO. The film features lots of rare and previously unseen footage along with interviews with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor, as well as the late Brian Jones.

Set for release on January 15 in the U.S. (a week earlier in the U.K.), the film is one of many ongoing events surrounding the band's 50th anniversary. Clocking in at just under two hours, it attempts to cover a lot of ground, and most who have seen it seem to agree it's the best documentary thus far on 'the greatest rock and roll band in the world.'

Director Brett Morgan told NME, "'Crossfire Hurricane' invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones' nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty. This is not an academic history lesson. 'Crossfire Hurricane' allows the viewer to experience the Stones' journey from a unique vantage point." adding, "It's an aural and visual roller coaster ride."
