Winter isn't over yet by a long shot.  According to that little bastard groundhog, we can expect to see 6 more weeks of this stuff...if you, in fact, believe a rodent to give you an accurate forecast.

That being said, Mid-Coast Family Services along with the Victoria Area Homeless Coalition hope the public will help provide warmth as the Crossroads is expected to receive more cold weather in the days to come.

The organizations are seeking volunteer and monetary assistance for their warming stations.  The goal is to have emergency warming shelters running at Trinity Episcopal's Pine Street Community Center, Central Church of Christ and First United Methodist Church.

Once opened, Mid Coast hopes the organizations will be able to offer people a safe place to stay and a few meals. She also hopes area restaurants will step in and donate meals for the homeless.
