After a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr passed away on March 12 at the age of 56. There have been countless tributes paid by some of rock and metal’s most legendary musicians, but the men who were privileged enough to call themselves Burr’s former bandmates have offered their memories of the drummer, along with their condolences.

Iron Maiden bassist, creative compass and founding member Steve Harris wrote a piece on Clive Burr shortly after learning of the drummer’s passing, but Harris also took the opportunity to dedicate a song to Burr while onstage with his eponymous side project in Gothenburg, Sweden. During the performance, the Harris track ‘A World Without Heaven’ was dedicated to Burr, who drummed on the classic Maiden albums ‘Iron Maiden,’ ‘Killers’ and ‘The Number of the Beast.’

Former Iron Maiden vocalist and Burr bandmate Paul Di’Anno posted a picture of himself and Burr from way back when on his Facebook page, along with a short statement:

In memory of Clive Burr:

Sad to hear of your passing. You will always be in my heart, Clive. A truly unique talent, that will never be forgotten.

Former Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton also wrote a tribute for his fallen friend:

I am so sad that I have lost an old mate. So glad I saw Clive and [his partner] Mimi last year. God bless, mate. Now you can jam wiv Mooney[Keith Moon], [John] Bonham and all the other drummers up there. Our song. The greatest luv of all.

As we reported yesterday, Bruce Dickinson, current Maiden vocalist and former Samson singer, of which Burr was also a member, shared his thoughts during this sad time:

I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family.
