Homeless Man Finds Long-Lost Daughter Through Twitter [VIDEO]

Most people take their Internet connection and their cell phone for granted. And most people who use Twitter do so in order to make funny observations about the world around them and don't take much of what they read very seriously.

Daniel Morales, a New York City homeless man, got more than he could have imagined from those things most of us don't often consider to be important.

An initiative called "Underheard" in New York supplied Morales with a pre-paid cell phone and access to Twitter. Underheard aims to give a (digital) voice to those often ignored by society, their website states:

In a time when communication is all around us, we felt it was necessary to give a voice to the people who needed it most.

Working within the 140 character limit on Twitter, Morales reached out and managed to re-unite with his estranged daughter.

Morales and his daughter were separated when she moved to the U.S. with her mother from their native Puerto Rico and had not communicated until last week, when Morales used Twitter to locate her. He sent out a tweet with his cell phone number and attached a picture of her as a girl. She contacted him the next day and the two were soon reunited.
