George H.W. Bush Impersonates Dana Carvey Impersonating Him
During a videotaped message delivered during last night’s Republican National Convention, both former Bush presidents expressed support for Mitt Romney. But the most surreal moment came when the elder Bush recalled comedian Dana Carvey’s well-known impersonation of him.
“Not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent,” Bush said, mimicking Carvey’s legendary George H.W. impression. If this sounds all very meta, that’s because it is.
Carvey, of course, was a fixture on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and regularly impersonated the 41st President during his term in office from 1989-1993. But, as far as we know, Carvey hasn’t had much use for this impression as of late. Maybe this video will give it new life. Here’s hoping.
