The center of the country is the center of the sports world tonight when two bitter rivals square off.

Kansas and Kansas State, separated by roughly 80 miles and years of hatred, usher in a new chapter when they meet on the hardwood in Lawrence. Earlier this season, the Jayhawks escaped Manhattan in a 4-point squeaker.

The Jayhawks have lost three in a row -- all to unranked squads, the first time that's happened since 1988, but they regrouped and went on to win the national championship that year. K-State now has sole possession of first place in the conference and a win tonight can give the team such much-needed breathing room.
