Queen's Freddie Mercury may have enjoyed singing about riding his bicycle, but like any rock star worth his salt, he had plenty of gasoline-powered wheels too -- and thanks to a recent auction, one of his nicest cars now has a new owner.

Mercury's 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, purchased by the singer in 1979 and used until his death in 1991, was sold as part of the Autosport International auction, with the winning bid fetching nearly $120,000 -- well above the upper limit of the guide price, which was set around $18,000. According to the Daily Telegraph (via Bravewords), the car was sold to Ukranian singer Andrei Danilko.

The Telegraph's article describes the car as having 62,000 miles on the odometer and boasting "grey leather, wood trim, electric windows, automatic gearbox, a car phone and radio cassette player" with "a 6.75-litre V8 engine." Congratulations to Pokhvalit for his recent purchase -- might we suggest a cassette copy of Queen's 'Greatest Hits' for his first drive through the Ukranian countryside?
