The Fleetwood Mac tribute album, ‘Just Tell Me You Love Me,’ is continuing its interesting track record with yet another song leaking out ahead of the disc’s Aug. 14 release.

This time it’s the unique pairing of Sonic Youth‘s Lee Ranaldo with Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis, as they deliver an experimental version of ‘Albatross’ for the collection. Some of the opening guitar licks harken back to the notes Ranaldo recorded on Sonic Youth’s hit song, ‘Bull in the Heather.’

Meanwhile, there’s some beautifully bluesy chords laid down by Mascis during the fully-instrumental take of the song. The dreamlike recording takes the listener away to another time and place filled with fuzz-heavy feedback.

The Ranaldo-Mascis collaboration follows recent releases from the tribute album from Karen Elson, Best Coast, Lykke Li and New Pornographers, and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.
