If three hours of fantasy film is not enough to satiate your entertainment appetite, prepare for six.

Select Cinemark Theatres across the nation - including Victoria - will premiere "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" at midnight Thursday in a double feature format.

Fans of the first film and its "The Lord of the Rings" predecessors will preface the midnight premiere at 9 p.m. Thursday with the showing of the first film, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

The movies are inspired by the original work of author J.R.R. Tolkien, who in the early to mid-1900s created the characters many have come to know and love.

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the journey of Bilbo Baggins, who in the first movie is dragged into an adventure by Gandalf the Grey to help dwarves reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug.

Though there is one book, director Peter Jackson has broken up the story into three separate, nearly three-hour-long films.

The story's final installment, "The Hobbit: There and Back Again," is expected to premiere in December 2014.
