DragonForce now have one full album under their belt with new frontman Marc Hudson and are moving full steam ahead toward their second disc with the singer. In a new update, the band reveals that writing has finished on their second album with Hudson and recording will begin in May.

Hudson replaced former frontman ZP Theart on 'The Power Within' disc and gave the band a new dimension. In our interview with guitar great Herman Li last year, the axeman praised the new vocalist, stating, “Marc’s voice because it’s so large in terms of range from low to high, we’re able to try different things out and have more dynamics on the album with. We’re not just singing high all the time, we can sing low, we can sing mid range, we can sing everything.”

As for the new record and their recent writing sessions, the band laid it all out in a new Facebook posting. The group will enter Fascination Studios in Sweden next month with producer Jens Bogren, who has been behind the boards for standout releases from Opeth, The Devil Townsend Project, Amon Amarth, Katatonia, Soilwork and Symphony X among others.

Li says of the band's current mindset, "Right now, everyone in the band is itching to get into the studio to record probably the most epic DragonForce music ever written. With so many ideas flying around and songs already written, we decided to team up with producer Jens Bogren to help us take the DF sound to the next level and beyond!"

At present, the new album is priority No. 1, as there are currently only a pair of late April festival performances before the band hits the studio, and nothing booked again until their June 9 appearance at Sonisphere in Amneville, France. The group has booked a number of European festival shows this summer, but a full-on trek has not been announced. Their current itinerary can be seen here.
