You can never go home again. But you can go back into the studio with the tried and true producer from your glory days, provided you are Dave Grohl and Krist Novocelic. Butch Vig, the man behind the board on their  landmark Nirvana album ’Nevermind’ recently hit that Twitter thing saying “The last 24 hours have been surreal! Had a great gig at the El Rey last night, and spent today recording with Dave, Krist and special guest!”

Unfortunately, no other info on these sessions has shown itself just yet. Who was the ‘special guest?’ We certainly don’t know, but we’d bet our lunch money that it’s not Courtney Love, taking into consideration the meaning of the words ‘special’ and ‘guest,’  not to mention recent drama involving Ms. Love.

Grohl has also been wrapping up work on a documentary about the legendary Sound City Studios which closed up shop last year. It was the venue where so many classics including Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumors’ and Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ were recorded. Grohl’s documentary includes a cast of thousands such as Lindsey Buckingham, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Rick Nielsen, Lars Ulrich, Barry Manilow, Kevin Cronin and even Lee Ving of the notorious LA band Fear to name but a few. Should be pretty cool!
