Bring Your Boots to Victoria? Ok…But Why?

Don't lie...The first time you heard about the "Bring Your Boots" campaign to promote tourism in Victoria, you said something like, "huh?", "That doesn't even make sense", or "WTF?".  Yeah...Me Too.  I had some folks from the Chamber on the air with me to explain it better to a fairly sizeable audience.  But I still didn't totally get it.  From talking to listeners and reading letters to the editor and various online comments made by readers of The Victoria Advocate, I'm not alone. 

Don't get me wrong though.  I'm not bashing it.  I want all things Victoria to succeed.   Why wouldn't I want that?  I live near here and work here everyday.  I just think it's funny how many people are saying bad things about the campaign.  I'm not surprised.  Maybe we should have a new sloglan. One like this :  "Victoria...An alright place to stop on your way to San Antonio.  Or Houston.  Or Austin.  Or Corpus Christi.  And oh yeah, we like our boots here".
