It's easy to poke fun at George Lucas. He directed the prequel trilogy after all, and refuses to acknowledge the original cuts of the first three 'Star Wars' movies. But when Lucas does good, that's no joke. And today word broke that Lucas will be giving the majority of the money he got for selling Lucasfilm to educational philanthropy.
To get in the mood for tonight's spooky activities. 'Evil Dead' - the remake of 1981's horror classic 'The Evil Dead' - has shown us its re-imagining of the book and cover of Necronomicon ex Mortis. Though it may not be as well known as Jason's hockey mask, or Freddy's knife-glove, it's definitely one of the most memorable props in horror history.
We're still a bit away from the conclusion of the 'Twilight' franchise 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' as the film doesn't open until November 16, but to tide fans over is a new clip of Bella (Kristen Stewart) showing off her new powers, which involves being an excellent arm wrestler.
'Cloud Atlas' opens Friday, and it's the sort of picture that will have people raving about it, one way or the other. Our own Matt Singer gave it an 8 out of 10, where others are calling it one of the best films of the year. The actors involved seemed to love making it, or at least that's the impression they give in this new featurette.
One of the biggest critical darlings of 2012 has to be Leos Carax's 'Holy Motors,' which is just now hitting America starting with a two screen run in New York. It's slowly going to be coming across the country, and now there's an official trailer for the U.S. And it looks bonkers.
Good job, Golden Globes! Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to host this year's Golden Globes ceremony, which is scheduled for January 13, 2013. The duo have previously anchored 'Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update desk together, and co-starred in the 2008 film 'Baby Mama.'
'Zero Dark Thirty' looks like the collision of a number of great things. Add Kathryn Bigelow - the first woman to win a Best Directing Oscar - to a based on a true story procedural about the hunting and killing of Osama Bin-Laden, and a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, and Mark Strong, and you've got a winning combination. Now there's a new trailer for this likely Oscar front-runner.
'Silver Linings Playbook' may be a buzzed about Oscar contender, but more than that, it looks like a good movie. Not a "Good" Movie like 'The King's Speech' but an actual good movie. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper star in this tale of people who feel like damaged goods coming together, and now there's a great clip from the film online.
It looks like someone finally took up the mantle of films like 'Kentucky Fried Movie' and 'Amazon Women on the Moon,' because 'Movie 43' is a comedy omnibus that reminds of those scatter-shot but often hilarious sketch-based films. Actually, a lot of people took up that mantle. Like, half of Hollywood (47%) at least.
If you thought the idea of rebooting 'The Munsters' for modern times was stupid, you're in luck. NBC looks to be pulling the plug on 'Mockingbird Lane,' which was mostly cast and which played a four minute sizzle reel at Comic Con 2012.
Though it's not due until February 1, 2013, we're pumped for the return of Walter Hill with 'Bullet to the Head.' The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang and Jason Mamoa in - what looks to be - a no-nonsense action movie. It's been a while since we've had one of those that wasn't PG-13. Now there's a UK trailer.
