What’s New on Netflix: March 2018
Netflix’s full March lineup includes new seasons of ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Love,’ along with classic films like ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Casino.’
Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Also Joined That ‘Kung Fury’ Movie
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the President of the United States of America…in a movie, at least. The action icon and former Governator of California has joined the cast of Kung Fury, the upcoming feature film based on David Sandberg’s 2015 short film of the same name. Schwarzenegger is the latest name to join the full-length version of the cult favorite, which is set in the ’80s and pays homage to the martial arts and cop flicks of the era.
Michael Fassbender Joins David Hasselhoff in ‘Kung Fury’
Little-known fact: Michael Fassbender is a funny guy. You wouldn’t know it from his filmography, which is filled with serious roles in dramas and genre flicks and period projects and blockbusters — and even when the latter tend to be silly, Fassbender keeps a straight face. But if you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing good ol’ Fassy in person, you know that he’s a bit of a clown, and he’s finally found a project that will let him put those skills to use: Kung Fury.
Melissa McCarthy Goes Back to School in First ‘Life of the Party’ Trailer
Ya girl Melissa McCarthy is at it again — and by “it” we mean making another comedy with her husband / director Ben Falcone.
Jason Bateman‘s ‘Game Night’ Gets Real With a New Trailer
That insane cast is worth the price of admission alone.
Claire Foy Goes ‘Unsane’ in First Trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s iPhone Thriller
If you’ve already binged your way through Mosaic and you’re craving another cool thriller from Steven Soderbergh, the first trailer for Unsane has the cure for what ails you. The new film, shot entirely on an iPhone (similar to Tangerine), stars The Crown’s Claire Foy as a woman who thinks she has been involuntarily committed to a mental hospital — or has she?
Here’s the Truth Behind That Fake Danny McBride ‘Dundee’ Movie
Despite boasting a fairly convincing marketing campaign — including a website, social media accounts and official stills and posters — it seemed pretty obvious to anyone with at least one working eyeball that Danny McBride’s Crocodile Dundee sequel was not exactly…how do you say…real. Our assumptions have now been confirmed by a newspaper in Paul Hogan’s homeland, which uncovered the truth behind Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home.
What’s Leaving Netflix: February 2018
Watch these now before they’re gone (maybe for good).
Alicia Vikander Hangs Tough in New ‘Tomb Raider’ Trailer
Among this year’s collection of blockbusters is one that has the potential to truly surprise audiences: Tomb Raider, starring Alicia Vikander as the iconic eponymous video game hero — who does a little more hanging off of and jumping over things than any actual tomb raiding in the latest trailer for the upcoming reboot, directed by Roar Uthaug. (If nothing else, this movie boasts the director with the coolest name ever.)
Joaquin Phoenix Deals With His Drinking in the ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’ Trailer
Critics weren’t too kind to Gus Van Sant’s last film (the Matthew McConaughey Japanese suicide forest movie), but the filmmaker tends to follow a pattern where every other movie is actually good — and thankfully, judging by the first trailer, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot looks to be one of the better Van Sant projects in recent years. Joaquin Phoenix leads an awesome cast (which includes a few musical faves) in the true story of an alcoholic who finds respite from his addiction in drawing cartoons for the funny pages.
‘Slender Man’ Meme Finally Becomes a Movie in First Bizarre Trailer
“But wait,” you say, “wasn’t there already a Slender Man movie in 2016?” Well, yes and no: You’re probably thinking of the terrible horror flick The Bye-Bye Man, or maybe you’re remembering the HBO documentary Beware the Slender Man, which examined the internet phenomenon that inspired two 12-year-old girls to attempt murder. Slender Man is the first official — or as official as you can be when based on a creepypasta meme — film about the sinister internet boogeyman, although if you didn’t know the title of the movie, you might think this trailer is actually for a fan-made sequel to The Ring.
Inspired by Adam Driver’s Beefy Bod in ‘The Last Jedi,’ Men Everywhere Are Taking the ‘Kylo Ren Challenge’
Hi. Hello. Welcome to 2018. As you force yourselves back into society after a long, carb-stacked holiday weekend and confront the monotony of “work” and “responsibility,” you may find yourself in need of a little pick-me-up. Enter the #KyloRenChallenge, courtesy of OG f—k boy John Mayer. Motivated by Adam Driver’s shirtless, beefy and oh-so-high-waisted bod in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mayer shared his own take on the Look and inspired men everywhere (or on Instagram, whatever) to do the same. We’re not only here for it, but we would like to express our full, unwavering support for this ridiculous endeavor.
