An estimated 10,000 volunteers are expected at 29 locations along the Texas Gulf Coast on Saturday as part of the annual Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup, according to a news release.

Locations include King Fisher Beach in Port O'Connor, Magnolia Beach/Indianola, Palacios, Matagorda Beach, Sargent Beach in Bay City, Rockport, Austwell Pier, Aransas Pass/Redfish Bay and Port Aransas.

Volunteers can register between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. the day of the event at any of these locations or online.

Comfortable clothing, close-toed shoes and a hat are the recommended attire. Suggested supplies include sunscreen, drinking water and bug repellant.

The Texas General Land Office provides data cards, gloves, pencils and trash bags, as well as refreshments after the cleanup at most sites.

Nearly 450,000 Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have collected 17 million pounds of litter from the Gulf Coast since the event's inception 26 years ago.

Those who cannot make the event Sept. 28 can take advantage of a second event later this fall.

The Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup Expedition, a competitive, four-wheel drive excursion, cleanup and treasure hunt, is set for Nov. 2 at Padre Island National Seashore.

Donations are accepted year-round online. Sponsorship levels range from $25 to $25,000 and are tax-deductible.
